Simple layout and start again

Hi All

Just upgrade from V7 to V8 and it errr, well its a total mess.

I am considering just choosing a new theme and starting all over. However, when i select a different theme, the layout is also a complete mess.

Is there anyway that i can just use all of my products and current sections and use these in a brand new layout that works and then amend from there.

For some reason each of my sub sections is also doubled up, i just want to start again from scratch with a shop that works.

Any help appreciated.

I believe this capability has been added to 8.0.3 which is curently in beta release.

Your layout is probably using the upgrade layouts from you v7 site, if you go to site options and select the corresponding theme layouts but for the V8 version this will probably put them back to something like you had but with no customisation. This is simple to do if all your products are set to use the parent settings but if not you will need to go through all the products and change these manually.

I had some weird layouts until i changed mine over.

My only concern with that being beta is that anything i do may turn out wrong once its released permanently.

I sat there with baited breath awaiting the carnage of the upgrade with fingers crossed hoping for a miracle. Geez it was a wreck, i don't recall too of the template changes i made when the shop was created, but boy i did not expect the car crash that appeared on my screen.

I've been on it for 4 hours and it just seems far too broken to try and repair. I've spent at least 2 hours trying to work out why on earth the sub-sections are being duplicated. It doesn't help i guess when the interface has changed as there is no firm ground on which to stand and start the wreck clearance.

This has always been a problem as i have no idea with which theme i started, i basically chose one i liked (not noting the name) and then worked from there. I have regularly seen people refer to the themes they used and thought bugger wish i knew which one i had.

Everything was set to parent settings, that i can guarantee, but that is all lol.
