    vat issue

I am about to go vat registered and need to change all my product prices to be ex vat

I know that I just have to change to vat options in actinic to get actinic to add vat to the product prices.

The problem that I have is the total price that I have in the store now per product needs to stay the say.

Therefor I need to reduce all my actinic prices by 17.5%

is there a quick way to do this ??

If you can get the products exported into a spreadsheet along with the price, it is very easy. The formula to take the vat off a product is:

    =SUM(A3/1.175)

Where A3 is the cell reference which contains the price.

sorry i should have explained a little better

I know that I can export the table that contains the reatil prices and then just run a sum

but the problem that I have is that I have customer accounts set up with specific price for each customer group.

i.e. I have un ticked generated in the product price tab and entered specific prices for each customer group.

I understand for actinic support that this non generated price that I have entered in not located in a table and they cannot tell me where these prices are stored.

I need to be able to change all prices in 1 go if possible

I'm not sure i can add anything to help then, just replying out of courtesy so you do not wait around etc.

One thing that did stand out for me is why have you got specific prices for each customer group, could you not have a base price for the product and then each customer group has a set % reduction. This way the price is global and you only ever need in the future to adjust the % reductions each customer group gets? New customer groups can then be setup and just input their % reduction.

        i.e.

        Customer Group 1 - 15% off
        Customer Group 2 - 25% off
        Customer Group 3 - 35% off

Just an idea thrown into the pan, whether its viable is up to you of course.

The only other thing i could think (dependson the number of products and their price range), is to create a spreadsheet with all of your prices included and their corresponding including vat price and work down in some kind of order, with the figure in front of you, its surprising how quick you can get this done, especially if you turn off the preview window.

I wish it could be that simple

the custom group prices are for our trade customers.

We have to do all product individually as some lines we can offer a lower price than others to the trade

Its not something i have ever used, but i'm sure that i have read that you can have a retail price and a trade price for a product. If trade customer logs in, they see the trade price and the retail customer will see the retail price.

With this you can also apply a discount to each trade customer individually, so they get their own price ec. In effect, there are 3 prices for each product:

            1 - Retail price
            2 - Trade price
            3 - Trade price + % discount

Thats exhausted all of my ideas, i think.

              thats exactly what we do

              retail - public price
              trade - custom trade price

the problem id that i need to reduce both of the prices by 17.5%

the reatil price is easy to change

the trade one is not as the trade price is not auto generated

Dave this is my point, if everytime there is a price change you need to go in and change each price, that is a hell of a lot of work and pointless admin surely?

If you have percentage discounts, rather than set prices for each trade customer, then you will only ever need to change the base price. i.e.

                Retail price = £10
                Trade customer 1 = 10% off - £9
                Trade customer 2 = 20% off - £8
                Trade customer 3 = 30% off - £7
                Trade customer 4 = 40% off - £6

By having % discounts for each trade customer, their price will be automatically calculated by taking their % discount off the retail price?

If your suppliers put up their prices in the future, then you only ever need to change the base price and all trade customers will be updated automatically. Your only change in procedure is to tell the trade customer that they get x% off the retail price. Whatever the retail price is, they will always get this discount and you (if your suppliers put prices up) only ever have to change the retail price?

I have a feeling im barking up the wrong tree here, but not sure why. Apologies if im being of no use whatsoever.

the trade price cannot be a specific % off as

product 1 may be 10% off to trade

product 2 could be 50% off to trade

thats why we have to manually set it product price.

we do not set a specific price per customer we only have 2 price groups trade & retail

Gotcha, no set % discount, each individual product has its own discount for trade.

The only other thing i can come up with is to create a new variable, which indicates the trade discount for each product. This trade discount variable could be applied globally across all of your products and available in the extra info on each product for changing. i.e.

Product 1 - retail = £10, trade discount = 20%(set in the new variable you create)
Product 2 - retail = £5, trade discount = 10%(set in the new variable you create)
                    etc.

Apologies for my lack of solution and misunderstanding your needs.
