display items (product) across the page

    Hi,

This would be very simple if you know how.

At present, the V8 shows the product in ONE column, Is it possible to have it in 2 or 3 columns.

For example at present in V8,

    Product 1
    price

    Product 2
    price

    Product 3
    Price

    and so on

I want it to show as

    Product 1 product 2 product 3 product 4
    price price price price

    product 5 product 6 product 7 product 8
    price price price price
etc. in other word, if I have similar product, I would list them across then start with another group of products. This whoever visit the store would see more products rather then have to scoll down all the way down

    Any idea ?

    Many thanks

    Column Count for Products

    Hi,

I have only just started evaluating v8, so I am no expert, but I believe that you shoul be able to do this by selecting the catalog or product category where you want to change this, clicking on the layout tab and changing the value of "Product/Column Count for Products" to the desired number.

    I hope this helps.

I've used this and works but I have another question.

My layout has two products per line

        Product 1 product 2
        price price
        product 3 product 4
        price price

I would like to have prod1 with the image on the left and prod 2 with its image on the right. I can get them both to have either left or right but not one of each.

        Any ideas

        Many thanks

Can you not go into each product and change the layout to be "standard with image on left" the the next one to "standard with image on right" and so on

Darren - I think not there is only one layout in use, just a column setting of 2. So setting std with image on right would set all product images right and std with image left would move all images left - just as Sally has experienced.

Sally - a block if condition based on column value 0 wrapping an image left layout, and a block if condition on column value 1 wrapping an image right layout might do the trick, but not sure how easy it would be to actually do.

Bill i will differ on this one

I can make it do it.

Set the section details column count to 2, then select each product seperately 1st product set to image on left, select 2nd product and set to image on right.

              Cheers
              Darren

                What theme?

I'm beginning to think a lot of what you can/can't do depends on the particular theme in use when you try it. [ I am struggling at the moment with fragments on a product page - spearate post ].

                  Hi Bill

This is a site i have just started on http://fascias.dnsalias.org/acatalog...zing_bars.html

the first couple of products i have laid out side by side as described, although the layout has not balanced the products evenly you get the desired effect, i am sure with a bit of investigating these can be balanced.

I think the theme is smart, not sure am at home now.

                  Cheers

                    Yep, That's Smart theme.

I just solved my fragment problem where I was having difficulty mixing different fragment layouts in the product sections. I must have made the same change 20 times and failed then I made it again just after posting above (noting the steps in preparation for posting) and it worked.

I'll try the product layout change again.

I take it the change is made on the layout tab of the individual product and not in any part of the layout code window?

                      Hi Bill

yep i changed the individual product layouts not the section product layout details

I take it you got to see the site, i have it set up on a pc on my network this allows me to check it externaly just to make sure what i see is what everyone else sees.

                      Cheers

                        Hi Darren,

Thanks for the help. I've got it working now.

Its a shame it couldnt be set at a higher level as we have several thousand product lines to add in which means one extra thing to set for each product.

                        Thanks again

And the worst thing is - if you ever add a product in the middle make sure you add 2 or you will have to swapped all the product below from left to right and right to left

                          Cheers
