Section links repeating after upgrade

Have attempted to upgrade my V7 site, unfortunately every time I try I get an anoying problem. On the main index page I have section links to 7 sections (3 rows and 2 columns of 2 plus 1 at the bottom). When ever I convert the V7 site what I get is the original layout plus it repeats itself below giving me 2 lots of the same section links.

Have tried using V8.0.2 and V8.0.3 with the default theme but still the same.

Has any one else come across this, and if so is there an easy fix?

yes, settings menu, siteoptions, layout,sections, bottom sub section list layout

change to no layout

Many thanks, that was what I was after. I can see that V8 is going to take at lot of getting used to!
