What I meant was does anyone else have this problem on their own site or a site they are developing for someone
Yes it happens from time to time on several sites. I ignore it as I think it is down to the privacy settings on peoples PCs rather than a problem with Actinic.

But this is happening for people who can normally order on Actinic generated sites, and some days I'm getting 2-3 people telling me they're having problems. Of course, if they do that, we can resolve it (over the phone or by email) but what about the new customers I'm losing(and at least one other person is losing) who get put off by the problem.

        Malcolm

I see the problem that Jane has and have tested using my PC and another PC on my desk.

I am an Administrator and the other PC is a restricted user. Both run the same version of FireFox and both see the same defect on the site in question.

They do not, however, encounter any problem with other sites (including mine).

        It is either:

        a) Actinic defect (possible)
        b) ISP (though unlikely)
        b) Coding defect within that site build (probably the most likely)

The ONLY way it could be affected by privacy setting on a PC would be if the cookie directory had permissions set on it which would mean cookies could not be written from any site.

Like I say, my machine is always running as Admin and I still see the defect.

I think I might just try and build a completely new site using all the default settings or just the default sample site, upload it and see if the fault appears.

It is specific to FireFox as IE 6 is fine with the same site.

Sounds like a good plan to me. I mention the privacy settings because on several occassions I have talked people through changing them and the problem has been solved. It sound like as you suggest that something else may be happening perculiar to this site.

Yes, if the cookie settings were wrong on a particular machine you would see this fault but it appears that the fault is being induced by some other means specific to FireFox accessing an Actinic site.

If it is a coding defect then I think it would be a bit of a nightmare to track down.

I am, however quite happy to try any site as I have a couple of machines here that I can access sites with.

Yep I'm having this problem! I think its a Actinic problem myself.

I have called them up and they told me they think its to do with the Time stamp on the server expiring the cookie or not setting it!

Not sure if this is correct! To be honest I'm not sure they Know what the problem is.

Could you try going to 'Web | Configure Expiry Periods' and try increasing the time there for 3 hours to 24 hours.

It could be that the shopping cart cookies are expiring as soon as they are being made.

Has sorted my problem out as well!
                          Think this is the fix.

Could I ask you both to ask your web hosting provider to check the time on their web server? This problem can occur if the time on the web server is set to be significantly earlier than the time in the web browser. Internet Explorer (in it's usual way) ignores this error and sets the cart cookie anyway, despite the fact that it's expiry time has already passed. Firefox, however, plays it more to the letter and deletes the cookie as soon as it is created.
