Search fields for Record Site

HI Guys,

I'll post this in V8 & V7 help.

Have a customer who's selling records, he wants a fully searcheable site with 3500 items on it.

Thing is, it needs to have a few searcheable fields in it:

1: Artist
2: Title
3: Record label
4: Release Year
5: Catalogue Number
6: Psuedonym

Currently he has his databse in fields in Excel.

WOndered if there was a way that Actinic could handle this or wether I would have to look at another program?

Hi Mark

We have just developed a little application for converting flat import files (i.e. spreadsheets saved as csv files) into hierarchical files. This means that any extra fields (such as artist, title etc.) can be imported into Actinic, and then you can set up the 'Searchable Properties' feature to search on them.

So I think Actinic could still work OK for you. The conversion utility is scheduled to be released with 8.0.4 but I'm sure I could let you have an advance release. Does this sound useful?

Bravo, that sounds very useful as many of our clients have a need for this. Any potential date in the diary for 8.04?

Soon - but not as quick as 8.0.3 came out after 8.0.2.
