i would suspect an upgrade error - the reason for saying this is the fact you are using catalogbody.html as the example to point us to.

this page wouldn't exsist within a v8 site, thus I wonder where it has come from

      CatalogBody.html template has been updated?

How do you activate? Can you change the name?

      Message when upgarding.

      Business Mulitsite
CatalogBody.html template has been updated and saved as Act_CatalogBody(Upgraded)'.
You need to activate the upgraded manually.
Select your front page on design tree and update your Layout|Section|Main Product Area Layout setting.

Not so funny: Last time I tried 8 I actually had the test working.

How do you activate? Can you change the name?

Rant! Vent! So many things about this upgrade are time wasters. I'm sure the list has been said before.

              Sorry Correction

it works for adding to basket but can not checkout, changed the number in the address bar to os900001.pl and can checkout but the pages are corrupted, you are missing the next button

also i do not understand why it is calling your live perl scripts instead or your test scripts.

              Sorry

                test mode Why this link?

Yes I don't understand any of it.

Could it be because I don't use the acatalog on live?

                Why this link?

                http://www.kobashi.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss9...andalwood.html

                live 7.06 site is:

test mode V8.03 trashed perl scripts for live 7.06 site

I'm using Firefox and links don't work in test mode. Some work in explorer.

BUT is this how the links are suppose to look? href="http://www.kobashi.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss900001.pl?SECTIONID=Blended_Massage_Oils.html&NOLOGIN=1
I would think they should look like this:
                    http://www.kobashi.co.uk/test/acatal...sage_Oils.html
In live 7.06 site links look like: http://www.kobashi.co.uk/Blended_Massage_Oils.html

And as said before this I was told V8 doesn't use catalogbody.html

Why then did the upgrade to V* from V7.06 retain catalogbody.html

                    href="http://www.kobashi.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss900001.pl?SECTIONID=catalogbody.html

I'm in V8 test mode and when I updated it broke my V7 site and I had to go back into V7.06 and refresh site to fix.

Is this normal for test mode: http://www.kobashi.co.uk/cgi-bin/ca9...ACTION%3dStart

After it just refreshes to live 7 site.

Looks like your V7 template is using a navigation menu which has been relaced and when the upgrader has done its thing has put it back to the standard menu which is why you are seeing links through the cgi_bin.

Has anyone played with the V7 nav during its design - you have one of normas menus there so it could have been done at the same time.

                        Design

Yes I did the design and why should it change what I did. I didn't ask it too. Interesting that when I did this in V8.02 I was able to use the test mode without a problem. Links in all menues did not refer to cgi. This happened after upgrade to 8.03 This program is a monster.

I have tried change to http://www.kobashi.co.uk/test/catalogBody.html

as I do not use the acatalog in my original site. This did not help, as I need to do a refresh in Test mode and I didn't because I don't know if this will trash my live site. I will speak to cover tomorrow to see if refresh can be used. I think my live site was trashed by test mode when updating last time because I did not compact and restart after I turned on testmode. All in all this upgrade procedure is worse than originally learning version 6. I liked the design mode of 7 much better, as I like golive and dreamweaver to easily edit. 8 is like learning about a very badly written dreamweaver.(more like a disjointed notepad.) I would love to use one button order completion and assign and un assign, so I will go on trying to make 8 work. I believe the major design move is only good for cover. You better get cover

Agreed - have you installed the DW extension which will allow V8 to work with DW.

                            Dreamweaver ext

Yes I have installed Dreamweaver ext, but it's to hard to find out what peices are where or what. Before you just clicked on the template manger and it opened automatically in Dreamweaver. Most of it is a learning curve I could have done without, also mentioning it does badly what Dreamweaver and Golive do well. I think the design side of Actinic 7 just needed a few more template links and i would have been happy. At least in 7 I could call up and get immediate help. Now I don't know were to start. When I look at the disjointed design in 8 I just want to go home. It gets me mad that I have to learn this.

All I wanted to do was change the navigation bar back to what it was. I can find it in the design in Actinic v8, but it is disjointed. The only way I can seem to change it is buy one link at a time. I can't find the whole template so I can do a search and replace for the Style. On upgrade it also changed the actinic.css which has affected color and style. Also changed my static-very-search-engine-links into perl links.

Otherwise looks like a great program that I have been trying to understand instead of making life easier for me.

This is the argument we were having with Actinic back in June on the beta testing. Infortunately the template manager is no more and we all need to learn the way V8 works.
