    multiple images - norman?

    Hi,

How do people deal with multiple images per product, is there any recommended ways? Also, I have been looking at normans Dynamic Product Images which is really cool - has anyone used this with v8? What are the good/bad points of using this?

    Thanks,
    Paul.

I've posted here on how to add an image per choice. I believe Chris is adding it to the Advanced guide.

I also have an all-new Dynamic Product Images patch for V8. This is much easier to use as it uploads the extra images automatically and has a dedicated <browse> entry field for the image associated with each Choice.

Hi Norman - does this patch work the same way that the one linked to on your website does? (I think that site was v7), e.g. it has a radio button with a name that you click on?

If so, please send me an invoice.

I assume if there is only one option (or rather, no additional images to the main one) then it doesnt run?

oh, I have lots of questions! one more for now - if I wanted to, could you do a way with radio buttons and just have a < > type setup and scroll through them all?

      Thanks,
      Paul.

The V8 Dynamic Images add-on looks similar but much easier to use than the V7 one.

Each Choice gets an extra image field in the Actinic Choice Details box. You can browse to and use an image from that. Once that's done, that's it. The image is uploaded and the code generated automatically.

If you don't have an image then the choice works normally. You could have some Choices with and some without images.

Yes. Or not have the extra images associated with a choice - just sitting there waiting to be mouseovered or clicked. See http://www.standanddeliver.com/acata...agon_AG31.html for one I did earlier.

Best contact me by email if you want to order something.

I want to have multiple images purely for displaying different views of the same product - exactly like the example you gave (layout differently etc). For clarification, when you talk about choices, you don't mean product choices, but someother method?

          Sorry to be dense!

          Thanks,
          Paul.

Yes. The stand and deliver site doesn't use Choices. Just a method of having a set of additonal images in Variables that you can swap for the main image.

Hi - just reading this thread - as i have a requirement to show multiple images of one product - Actinic V7. I have tried your V7 Dynamic Product Images patch and it works to an extent in that I would like to get rid of the radio boxes - is this possible? Also, can your version 8 patch work in Actinic V7 - as it looks like what i need

Yes. I've a just completed a very easy to use and sophisticated patch like this for V8. It's a good example of the power of V8.

                There's demo on
                http://www.drillpine.biz/v8multiprod...tproducts.html

You only need provide the main image and a set of same size replacement
images. The patch will automatically create the smaller thumbnail icons (to
reduce the page weight on the server).

There are a few special effects. You can configure it for onclick or
onmouseover and have the icons change from greyscale to coloured as you
mouse over. They icons can also expand slightly on mouseover. The icons
can be horizontal, vertical or in a table.

                Best email me for details.

I can do something similar for V7 but it's a lot less elegant to use and wouldn't have all the same features. An example V7 site using it is http://www.standanddeliver.com/acata...agon_AG31.html

hi - i am looking for something similar to the example you give - however I would like to avoid scaling down the images to create the thumbnails - would it be possible to use two versions - a thumbnail and a product image. Also would like like the dynamic change to occur on a mouse Roll Over rather than a mouse click - is this possible?

My V8 patch does just that. It creates the scaled down icons from the main image (using Actinic's built-in PHP and GD library) - you can even choose the compression quality from a canfiguration variable. It also creates the grey scale icons if these are required.

The V7 patch uses 2 sets of Customvars - one for the main images and another for the icons. A bit more work for the site owner.

Thanks - can you point me to the V7 dynamic Images patch - I cannot justify an upgrade to V8 and my site is highly customised too

There isn't a general purpose download as such - it has had to be customised for each person who used it. Best email me for info.
