7.06 to 8.03 upgrade test mode bad links

Can someone please help me with this? At wits end.

When same 7.06 snapshot is imported into 8.02 update creates correct static html in PRODUCT CATEGORIES links, which are on the left of pages.

PROBLEM:When same 7.06 snapshot is imported into 8.03 links update creates wrong perl links even though not logged on online.

When you say that 'Login' is checked - do you mean 'Request Login On Shop Entry'?

In which case this is working correctly - Actinic will not allow non-logged in customers to access sections directly without logging in first. If you have this box ticked in 8.0.3, Actinic will generate links via the perl scripts, even when not logged in.

because it doesn't in 7.06 and this is the way I want it to stay.

Perl scripts for the Product categories always were simply html links.

Search engines will not look at perl scripts.

If that's how 8 works then I can't upgrade.

The 'Request Login On Shop Entry' feature means that you don't want customers to see your pages until they have logged in. If you don't have the link via the perl scripts in the section list at the side of the page, it means that any customers can see your products without logging in first.

It is, however, possible to edit the section link layouts to remove the possibility of ever going via the perl scripts.

Just edit the section link layout and remove the code that looks like

block ifSectionPageName/blockblock ifSectionURL/block

Just replace all that with the 'SectionPageName' variable

Not the way it should be and not the way i want it and I wouldn,t think anyone would want it this way due to search engine placement. Perl scripts on links should not be there when not logged in.

What is the advantage of perl links?

NOW THINKING ABOUT IT THEY ARE NEEDED FOR LOGIN VARIABLES.

How will this affect the Discount and surcharge settings, which are used when customers login?

I found that you can't just paste and apply these variables, but have to right click, insert variable, pick them from the list.
