If I create a product and then want it to also appear in a different section. I can copy it and paste as a duplicate how can I ensure the copy updates if I change the price on the original ?

I think you can select the original when you change the price, and then click "Reset Duplicates" which should refresh all the duplicates.

be careful here,
you now have the option to adjust certain fields (settings->duplicate fields configuration)
the reset tends to reset these values as well.
