    Help Menu Links Not Working

When I look up a topic in the Help Menu it shows links to related topics in the main body of the text. When I click these links they don't work and I keep getting an Internet Explorer Script Error.

    Is this a known bug?

    Hi Rob,

What version of IE are you running? I'm using IE6 and it works for me, please could you check this.

        Hi Rob

This is odd indeed. Could you give me an example of a topic with related links where this happens?
Also which version of V8 is this ?

          Hi Krithika,

Oh that's an easy one to answer: it happens on all of them! I'm using 8.0.3 Designer.

The software has been running very slowly just lately so I'm wondering whether it might be worth reinstalling?

I've been adding components, attributes and choices to a product and it seems to take ages to do each one.

I'm afraid I have no great suggestions to offer on your performance issues beyond contacting support via http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm and getting them to take a look at your snapshot and see if they can recreate the issue.

With regards to the help issue, is it just links in the main body of the text that don't work? Can you still use the links at the left of the 'Content' tab?

Yeah I've still got use of the help section - the links on the left work fine. Just thought I'd mention that the others weren't working (for me at any rate).

I'll submit a support ticket now and send in a snapshot.

              Thanks.

I don't think the Snapshot will assist.

The help comes from C:\Program Files\Actinic v8\ActinicMainHelp.chm which is a stand-alone Compiled Help format file. If this isn't working properly it's probably a Windows bug. Try double-clicking said file and running it outside of Actinic.

You could also try searching for other .chm files and see how they perform.

The snapshot is because my Designer software is running so slowly. I did what you said with the help file and it doesn't work that way either. I'm upgrading to IE7 soon so I'll check it out with that. I'm not too bothered about it. I'm more preoccupied with the software running so slowly at the moment. Thanks for the suggestion.

                    Help Menu Links Not Working

I have had same problem that CHM files not go to display.
I found the solution in a forum.
Open a CMD window, type the following on the command line:

                    regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\hhctrl.ocx <press enter>
                    regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\itss.dll <press enter>

You will receive a success message after each of these commands.
