    Business 8 and EPOS

    Hi,

I've been using Business 8 for my online shop for a while now.
I'm now opening a retail outlet and require an EPOS solution. It makes perfect sense to me to go with Actinic if the two systems are compatible.

I want to be able to run my EPOS till with full stock control, but with a link into Business 8 so I can update my online store as to the current stock situation. Is that possible?

Also I note that EPOS should not be install on a PC with Access. Why? I have MS access (which I use) on my PC, the one I run Business on, and the one I want to put EPOS on. Can you advise.

The tech stuff says no Access should be installed, but we have found that it works okay if the access is installed before the EPOS installation. Installing Access after the EPOS will cause issues with the EPOS connections.

On the subject of a link between EPOS and V8, this is in alpha/beta I believe. Idea is for stock updating between the 2 systems, with some manual or scripted action on the LINK and v8 to update the site , so say every hour or 30 mins or so, to keep things in sync and as close as possible to the real stock levels.

We just finished a deployment of the EPOS with approx 10 licences, tills etc for a rebuild being done now under v8, so this from our information, the whole thing should (once link is fully completed) be as seamless as is possible (like a normal Link to Sage Line 50 installation) is.

However, watch this space and Actinic on the Link to EPOS for finer details I would suggest.
