duplicate "product layout" prompts

I'm constantly being prompted for the duplicate layouts within actinic v803

I've snapped a section I've created, and as you can see, there is duplicates of "product layout". "Product List Layout" and "Attribute Layout"

I now (by experimenting) know that I MUST change the SECOND version of the prompt for it to have any influence on layouts. - I can do what I want on the first prompt, actinic doesn't care.

Its a similar story when I go and look in the "Design | ContentCategories"

please don't ask how I got them, I haven't got a clue - actinic has created them, not me !

so of course, the question is, "what next", "what cure", "what the heck"

I suggest going to 'Design | Library | Layouts' and expanding the 'Product List' group and editing the 'ProductList' layout selector.

De-select all the 'Place of Setting' settings and click 'OK'. Then edit the selector again and reselect all the places of setting.

If this works - do it for all the layout selectors that have duplicated incorrectly. You can find out the name of the layout selector by looking at the 'Variable Name Is ...' information at the bottom of the 'Layout' tab when you click in a selector. You can search for these in the Library by right-clicking and selecting 'Find'.

Is there any shortcut and how does this arise? Nearly every option on every tab of Site Options is duplicated at least once for one of my sites. It will be several hours work to do as you suggest above.

what version are you using, Michael?
I believe that the "eagerly awaited" 8.5.2 contains a fix for this problem.

If I'm wrong or you don't want to wait, then maybe someone can offer an alternative solution for you
