    Extended Info

    Hi there,
Is there any way to make an extended info page as a seperated page, so you can edit easy in the Design tab. Or so I can add more details and pictures.
    Any help would be great

You can put what you like in there (as many pics and info). Create the HTML in dreamweaver for example.

Then add it to the extended info text box wrapped around the html actinic tags.

search the forum for what you called your post and you will find many many references on how to embed html within actinic.

Put !!< before any of your HTML and at the end, after the HTML, put the closing tag >!!

I have found that any references to pictures cannot be c:/programfiles/actinic/catalog/site1

they have to be the full url
          http://www.masterforge.co.uk/acatalo...ent_Katana.png

So what I do is put the pics in then cut out c:/.... and replace it with the http: reference.

You then have to make actinic aware of the pic files by adding them to:
          Design>Additional files>add files

It seems like a long winded process for what should be a simple requirement and if there is a short cut please let me know

Click on the musashi katana more option and this will show you what is possible with embedding html.

By the way does anyone know the screen dimensions for 15 inch monitors? This is so I can set my pop up to fit the screen perfectly.

            My 15" monitor does:

            600x480
            800x600
            1024x768

It depends on what graphics card you have and what settings you select.

If you design anything on your website for 800x600, then you will be catering for the largest audience.

Not really - a fluid design will cater for the largest audience, as the page will fit evry screen resolution/size. 800x600 will best suit only 4-8% of users.

I would like a fluid design but from what I understand actinic cannot do an auto resize for an extended page that contains pics and info.

I know that you can set the extended info page to load in the current page. The problem is that it says 'add to cart' but my drop down options are not displayed only allowing the customer to buy the basic version.

This is one of the problems with using the extended info as a product page - but I seem to remember a recent post about getting the ext info page to auto resize?

From what I understand it is possible but you can get only the first ten words of your extended info text. Then it auto resizes around the ten words and your pic

I don't think this would work for me because I put all my info in by embedded html.

I agree on the whole, however in this situation the popup window has a fixed size what i understand. So it's weighing up providing a window too big for 10% of your users or creating a window that 95% of users will be able to see. I would always go for the mass audience personally if i can.

I personally use 1200x800, but i only ever have the browser window open at 800x600 to keep in mind what some people will be seeing. This is where your webstats can sometimes be misleading as seeing that somebody has 1024x768 does not necessarily mean that their browser window is that size, AOL being a prime example.

I missunderstood, I forgot the thread was discussing the extended info use as a product page This is another reason I dont use them.

I think you are talking about the best seller/new product patch here.
