Section Image/Thumbnail Issue Upon flat import

    Hi Guys

Couple of strange happenings when working on a clients site.

Using a flat file import for the product base, all is well apart from the images being picked up and used by Act V8.03

1 the image filename is being picked up and used OK when displayed, BUT when you work internally, the image file shows as imagesthisproduct.gif and not images/thisproduct.gif

2 the section image and thumbnail do not get picked up correctly. We specify two different names for each file BUT it still shows the default section image (we are trying to show 1 product from each section in this area) and instead of using the thumbnail it uses the specified section image in its place.

I have checked, double checked and triple checked to ensure the correct fields are specified and the image path etc is spot on.

Any clues would be appreciated it has up stumped?
    Regards

    image upload issue/bug/annoying trip up

    OK guys....

WE CANNOT NOW GET ACTINIC TO SEE ANY OF THE IMAGES TO UPLOAD?

Despite manually putting one product in and it seeing the image, when we upload via spreadsheet it states it DOES NOT EXIST

Field names are correct etc? compacted the database etc, examples below are

1 this works fine and is live

    images/SUPPLIER_NAME/PRODUCT_REF.jpg

2 This one "does not exist"

    images/SUPPLIER_NAME/PRODUCT_REF.jpg

don't be confused, I am just trying to show that one file works and another one with EXACTLY THE SAME FIELD NAME MAPPING DOES NOT?!?!

    Assistance Bruce/Chris please

      Hi Daren

If you want direct support from Actinic, you are better off calling or emailing. This forum is designed for peer-to-peer support.

I think this would require someone getting hold of a snapshot and trying to replicate it - I have no great suggestions to make I'm afraid.

        Hi Chris

I understand that mate, just seeing if any of my 'peers' had any advice before I chuck £3k worth of equipment out of the window!

Any ideas on this point above Chris?

We resolved the other issues by clearing out the db, compacting and re-importing??

            Hi Daren

By 'when we work internally' do you mean that the product paths look odd when you view them within Actinic? Can you maybe upload a screenshot?

              Hi Chris

Sorry, I mean, when we work inside of Actinic as opposed to using the import.

For instance, cjecking the price etc internally.

Screenshot attached. It happens on ALL imports mate.

              Regards

Sorry Daren - I still don't understand where it's happening.
when we work inside of Actinic as opposed to using the import.
                It happens on ALL imports
Could you please give me a workflow to reproduce the issue?

                  Hi Chris

When you open up actinic, select ANY product to view and look at the image files and thumbnail as per the attached image above, you can clearly see the reference is not images/mypart.jpg but imagesmypart.jpg

When you then edit the product, it tells you the image does not exist as it has not imported the full image filename reference and you have to reselect the image,

Not ideal as you will appreciate when you have over 40,000 items to import.

                  Workflow:
1 create a simple product with image and thumbnail in excel and save as csv
2 import as a flat file into actinic
3 look at the product images that has just been created
4 the filename ref is missing the /

                  HTH
                  Regards

(when I say internally I mean working/editting inside Actinic as opposed to working on a spreadsheet.... )

                    Darren,

What happens when you escape the / - that is put images//supplier_Name//image.jpg?

Are all these folders inside Site1?

                        OK Chris

Two tics mate, just let me import using the alternative.

                        Post back in 10mins

(me thinks a snapshot will be needed off to support IMHO)

                          You little beauty Chris.

Works a treat. I am sure there is an obvious reason for this....but canny think of it.

Cheers Mate and well played. I now get the correct image ref etc.

                          Regards
