    Mail relaying error

This has been bugging me for a while.

I have been given a mail server to use by our ISP. Our webshop resides on a server at another company.

Consequently when a customer completes a 'contact us' form and submits I get a smtp - relay access denied error. I know why (spam) but what can I do otherwise??

How do other folk manage or do they have their webshop sat on the same server as their smtp mail server?

most mail servers allow you to put in ip address's that you WILL allow relaying, and consequently, any IP address thats NOT in this list will be rejected.

Check with the ISP about this, its a normal sort of request.

For mail to work from within actinic (order processing, confirmation orders, contact form) you need to use the smtp server given to you by the people who host the webshop

Yes, that would be the ideal solution and the one I would like to use.

I guess there are 2 solutions:

        1. get the mail server ISP to allow relaying from the webshop server IP address.
        2. use the webshop mail server.

As you kind folk have pointed out.

At least I'm not at fault here.....
