v8 locks up our pop3 server

v7 was fine, and co-existed happily on the same computer as a program called VPOP3, which handles all email in and out of the network. This computer runs as a 'client - server', it's really just a PC running XP Pro with file sharing enabled across the local network.

As soon as Actinic is running, all collection and sending of email by 'VPOP3' stops ... if I'm spending hours editing our shop, then people come and beat me up because their emails have not been sent !

I have moved Actinic to another PC for the time being, but for organisational reasons this is impractical in the long term ...

    Any ideas ?

If you want to understand what VPOP3 is, go to http://www.pscs.co.uk

    Thanks,

    Alan

most servers of this type support a form of "debug", the abiltity to write trace information to a file - support people would then use this to work out what's going wrong.
My email server occasionally throws a wobbly when the DNS lookups go off line, and I can only tell this when I turn debug on (I'm not saying this is whats wrong with your server, just why I personally turn on debug)

looking at the forum of the company supplying the pop3 server, there is this about debugging

The VPOP3 Status Monitor program (VPOP3Status.EXE) supports several command-line options which advanced users may find useful. To use these, modify the Windows shortcut which launches VPOP3Status.EXE to add these options at the end of the command line.

/debug - this makes the status monitor run in debug mode. In this mode, it writes diagnostic information to a file called C:\VPOP3STATUS.LOG
It may be that you can start here, but there is also a forum on their website that you could post a much more pointed question, afterall, its their product this is having difficulty handling the requests.
