    [dot] and [at]

The Email in the: "Settings" > "Business Settings" > "Company Contact" is entered, eg. someone@mail.com

    In the:
"Settings" > "Business Settings" > "Terms and conditions" > "about us" tab

    we have:
    Email: [EMAIL]

The uploaded site has this as:
Email: someone [at] mail [dot] com

    Solution?

    #2
I believe that is to stop bots being able to grab email addresses. Did your designer set this up for you or something you have implemented?

Whan you say solution? does that mean you want to get it to show as a normal email address?

We upgraded from version 6 and it displayed fine as an email address.

We're currently using 8.02, and the email addresses don't display as it used to.

We haven't done any design changes, we're just using Actinic's Templates / Themes, so we did not change anything for it to read with [dot] and [at]...

I see your point about bots... The email address does get an enourmous amout of spam since we put it on the web, so we're no longer fussed about that.

Is there a way of changing this back to displaying "someone@mail.com" format?

      Tak.

I guess a temporary solution would be to enter the email address manually and not use the "[EMAIL]"

            Can be seen on:

            http://www.wires.co.uk/acatalog/index.html

Scroll to the bottom, look at: "About Us", also in "Reaching Us"

FYI: The exact entry in "About Us" in actinic is:

            ========================================

[COMPANYNAME] has a policy of supplying the highest quality material at the best prices and minimal delivery time it can offer to its customers.

If you have any suggestions or comments please email us at [EMAIL].

Our Contact details: [COMPANYNAME] [ADDRESSLINE1] [ADDRESSLINE2] [ADDRESSLINE3] [ADDRESSLINE4] [POSTCODE] [COUNTRY]
            Phone:[PHONE] Fax: [FAX] Email: [EMAIL]
            [TAX1DESC] [TAX1NR]
            [TAX2DESC] [TAX2NR]

            ========================================

            Tak.

Just noticed, the word "EMAIL" in the brackets should be CAPS, this vBulletin seems to change it to small letters.

              Tak.

Just trying to see if any other sites have this, and I've found one from the Actinic Example sites: http://www.actinic.co.uk/examples/index.htm

                See this link:
                http://www.topdiscs.co.uk/acatalog/info.html

The About Us has the same [at] and [dot] inserted into the email address.

                Tak.

if you ever want the forum to display something EXACTLY how you've typed it, then use the CODE button - its cheating but it will display the words the way you want them to. - you can also still use colours within the CODE and QUOTE buttons to highlight even more.

This is standard V8 now - it is designed to combat email harvesters.

Someone's having a laugh if that's the best that Actinic can come up with.
What's wrong with the usual ascii encryption routine?
If we are to have an "anti email harvester solution", then let's have one that at least looks professional!

                          And here it is.

Obfuscating the Contact Us email and keeping it human readable.

See the attached file for details. I've had to post it as an attachment as the Forum would munge all the & # 4 6 ; type bits of code.

So if your address was YourName@YourCompany.co.uk the generated page would contain
                          Code:
                          <script type="text/javascript">document.write('YourName' + String.fromCharCode(60 + 4) + 'YourCompany&#38;#46;co&#38;#46;uk');</script>
