    Shipping weight option cutoff

Going through final testing before going live and found another small problem that’s got me stumped.

Our range of 400+ products are all of various weights and we want to be able to charge the customer for shipping based on the weight of the order, with a maximum charge of £8.

We have set up the shipping methods to be handled by weight and added weights to all of our products.

However, when we process an order say 1kg of coffee beans (shipping weight 1.2kg) the checkout offers Second Class Packet as an option even though we have set it up not to offer this for anything over kg. I've only input weights in each category up to the weight allowed e.g. 1kg second class, 1.25kg first class and I've also added all the weights for standard parcels.

After reading the guides and many threads I still can't get it to work out that if I send something that weights 1.2kg I should only be offered 1st class and parcel service as options, second class shouldn't be in there at all. From my understanding the last weight in each category should be the limit where it stops offering that option. Am I missing another option to check or is this a glitch somewhere?

    Any help much appreciated!

On the second class weight/cost table, you need to tick the "Don't Allow Excess" radiobutton.

Thank you Bill. Just tried that and it works perfectly.
