    Index.html page annoying upload fault

I've hade this problem before. in fact it was not until now that I sort of thought it could be a bug, or at least a 'feature' that should be sorted.

I have two index.html files, one is at the root of the website:

    http://burns.writemedia.co.uk/index.html

and the 'home page' on clicking the 'Home' button which resides in:

    http://burns.writemedia.co.uk/acatalog/index.html

There does not appear to be a way of getting these two pages to update simultaneously. If I want to update the root one I need to turn OFF the 'Use as website home page' selector. This will then delete the acatalog index page and to update that I have to do a complete site refresh.

Is there any way that I can get both index pages updated at the same time?

If you turn off the use as website home page, then you are telling Actinic to write the Brochure home page into the /acatalog/ website folder - and yes, this will overwrite the shop Home page. It should be impossible for you to upload the entire site or do a refresh with this box unticked. Actinic should normally raise a "duplicate file name" error.

The Brochure home page should be uploaded to the website root when the "use as homepage" box is ticked. If you untick, and it is uploaded to /acatalog/ and then you retick and the shop Home page is uploaded to /acatalog/ - now the shop page has overwritten the Brochure page.

The only way to get Brochure index.html and shop index.html to both be available to view on the website is to have one in the root and one in the /acatalog/ folder.

OK - so the box stays ticked, and now you want to update both pages. In Actinic, swlect the Brochure home page and make your changes. In Actinic, select the shop Home page and make your changes. Click the upload button. That should be all that is needed.

Found a snag with that....I don't have the normal brochure layout so it won't work...BUT I have found that if I edit the index.html do an upload with 'use as homepage' de-selected and then re-upload with it selected then both pages get updated.

Bit of a pain but then I won't be editing the homepage that often.

if I edit the index.html do an upload with 'use as homepage' de-selected and then re-upload with it selected then both pages get updated.
If the "brochure" home page is index.html and the shop page is also index.html, then it is impossible that both exist at the same time in the same folder.

Obviously the second upload with the "use as homepage" sorts everything out every time, but there is absolutely no reason to ever do the first upload.

You are possibly viewing cached page views and that may be misleading you.
