Specific Items by Product

Hi,

Its been a while since I used Actinic (it was just getting to V7) but I seem to remember it could not do what I wanted (or I just did not know how to get it to do what I wanted).

This is the Scenario, A customer visits the store but instead of looking to see the products for sale they enter the type of product they have (i.e. a hotpoint washing machine model abc123). The store then lists the parts available for the machine (i.e. replacment drum, water filter, replacement dial).

Each individual part (i.e replacement filter) could fit numerous machines but that is irrelevent to the customer, they just want to see the correct part for there machine.

Can this be done withing Actinic V8 or is there an add-on to make the store function in this manner ???

The way to do this is to create an attribute for each product called 'Model' and then create a choice for each model of machine that this part works with.

You can then set up searching on all the values assigned to the 'Model' attribute in 'Settings | Search Settings'.

You can then remove the pink 'AttributeList' layout selector from the product layout in order to not actually show the attributes as part of the product layout - they will purely be used for search purposes.
