Kessock - Don't give up!! It is really worthwhile learning CSS & HTML. It'll save you money in the future as you won't need to pay for a designer when the inevitable time comes that your website needs a new look...
Granted you won't learn it overnight but perhaps give up for now and then learn it in your spare time. It will also mean that changes you want to make in the future will be easier to achieve by working it out yourself.

One thing that I have learned in many years in business.
While I can do many many things, there is always somebody who can do it better than me.
Therefore, if you are businessman, do what you should be doing best.
Concentrate on maximising the profit from your business...
Leave the design of your website to the expert, your designer.

dissapointed
I use CSS, am confident with CSS and still find this annoying. The whole point of DW is that it is a WYSIWYG editor, and you can place both table and css elements precisely.
The current set up within Actinic does not allow for enough flexibility in the order and placing of the elements within the inner layout. It also makes version control very difficult - if you change a block or component, the only way to go back is to reload the backup or keep copies in external files.
For those of use who have been using DW, and have a workflow in place for years this is incredibly frustrating.
At the very least give us more control over the layout elements within Actinic itself!!

Having used Actinic and DW side by side for years and DW for non Actinic sites I also struggled with the work flow upon first getting hold of the software back at Alpha testing.
I now work as follows:
1. create the external layout in DW and convert to Actinic once finished.
2. link to my own external stylesheet and remove the actinic.css
3. further HTML editing is done exclusively inside Actinic
4. stylesheet editing is done in DW ... largely so I don't have to swap page types under Actinic to generate the updated previews... this could be in notepad or any other editor
You only "really" need DW for the outer layout.. everything else can be just as quickly edited using the design tab in Actinic... even the most complex of HTML and CSS layouts I now do this way.
