SSL & HTTP on different servers

    Hi,

Is anyone using this feature with v8? I am trying to configure it and each time I run network settings it crashes actinic. I get to the "Directories" bit (after entering the two web addresses). It fails after the little popup "exploring folders".

It crashes everytime. Any ideas? If not, could I see someones settings so I can manually do it in the network settings screen. I am only used to using ssl etc on same server so not sure what I need to do.

    Thanks,
    Paul.

Bumping. Is anyone using two servers?

In addition, anyone know how the SectionID works when it is on a different server?

    Paul.

      Hi Paul

To be honest, I have never seen Actinic working like this. If you wanted to use two server, then you would need to setup an symbolic link between the insecure /acatalog/ server part to the secure /acatalog/ server. Which many hosting company will not do.

If someone has done this, please could you advise on how you did it, and what hosting company did you use?

        Nadeem,

I want to use it like this:

        http://www.madmash.com
        https://secure.madmash.com

I thought this was possible? It is on the same server (infact, can be accessed by the same ftp). Just when I am trying to configure actinic it crashes out on me when it comes to the SSL bit.

If it isnt possible, out of interest, what is this feature for?

        Thanks,
        Paul.

Yes then it is possible then, sorry your thread title is a bit confusing - "SSL & HTTP on different servers".
One thing, as mentioned in the previous posting, the insecure /acatalog/ folder has to have a symbolic link for the secure /acatalog/ folder. What this means, is that anything you put in the insecure /acatalog/ folder, will appear in the secure /acatalog/ folder. You may want your hosting company to set this up.
