Ordering of Credit Card options etc.

    Hi All,

We are having to make 5 or so phone calls a day to customers whom are not putting in the correct details on Checkout page 02.

They are selecting "Credit Card" as a payment method, but are then NOT selecting the correct card type.

The default drop down option is "Visa" which is useless when they are paying with a Switch/Maestro card. The full required details are not being passed on to us, hence we have to phone the customer up.

We suspect there is a 3 art solution to this.

    1. Add a note just under the "Payment Method" Title requesting them to remember to make the CC choice. We have done this and it looks good so far.

    2. We would like to add an option in the CC drop down that says "Select Card Type" We see where we can add this in, under business settings, Payment and Security etc. But once we have added our "Please select Credit Card Type" to the bottom of the list we cant make it move to the top. Do we have to delete the cards that are already in there and start again from the beginning re-inputting all the cards with the requisite permissions etc. Or is there an easier way to order the Credit Card drop down list.

    3. It would also be good if an error popped up should they have NOT selected a Credit card type saying something along the lines of "Please choose Credit card Type" if they hit "Next" and this has not been done. Any ways of achieving this??

    Thanks for any help received

I also have a similar problem of when people get to the credit card capture screen, customers who use a scroll down mouse use it before they click outside the drop down boxes, so i have to make phone calls because customers have inputted the wrong start / expirray date, it would be much better if they could type it in and not use dropdown boxes

Have you tried requesting the same information for all the cards, the only card that will be a problem will be ones with issue numbers but these are getting less and less.

        Start date
        Expiry date
        CVV

should all be standard now, even if you do not use the information when processing the cards manually it will save you ringing customers. all the other information is the address details

        Cheers

The scrolling mouse problem has always been a pain, however there is code you can now include which stops the list being active once a selection is made. Dont ask me where or what or who, but i read it recently and thought, great one day i shall use that.

            Thanks for the replies

So, for me to add a "new card" as it were saying "Please select your card type" at the top of the drop down, I need to delete the present cards and put them back in after the "Please select" statement.

And as yet there is no way to make the selection of the card a validated thing, so that they have to make a choice before they hit "next"......
