Login facility from index.htm in root folder?

Firstly I would like to say hello to all as I am new to this forum.

Secondly I would like to say thanx in advance for any replies.

    Scenario:

The index.htm file for the site is to be in the root and not in the acatalog folder. Is it possible to have the login Username and password input boxes on the external index page and allow any members to login directly from there? I have looked at other sites created with actinic but do not see this as having been applied before which leads me to think that it may not be possible.

I have looked at the code on the login page within actinic and see that there is a script involved. Is this something that might stop me from achieving what I want to do?

When I die I want go peacefully in my sleep just like my Grandmother did.

Not screaming like the passengers in her car.

not really sure how you would achieve this. I would be inclined to just place a link saying "Login" rather than actually have the boxes on the index page.

Only other way I can think of would be to use an iframe and include the html login page on the index page via an embed object script. People would then effectively be entering details into the login page but it would appear these were being entered into the index page.

However someone else might have a bright idea!
