New products & best sellers lists

Hi all,

I've set up my layout to have the new products and best sellers as sidebars on either side of the page. I only want a maximum of 3 items in these bars. I also have a new products page, in this I want it to show say 20 items.

How can I set the page to have 20 new products but the sidebar to still only show 3 items?
