Confised with Product Groups and Discounts

I seem to have got myself confused over product groups.

We currently have lots of batteries in a product group "Standard Batteries", we offer a discount on a Battery Tester for anyone ordering any of these batteries.

    This works fine.

Now as this works so well, we want to offer a discount on 2 specific batteries to customers that order specific chargers, these batteries are within the "Standard Batteries" group.

Perhapse I have been getting dizzy with all the Christmas orders coming through, but as I see it this would mean these 2 specific batteries would need to be in 2 groups, which doesn't seem to be possible.

So just in case I have confused you too:

Order Battery A, B, C or D get discount on Battery Tester - Works fine.
Order Charger X and get discount on Battey A and B, but not C or D

You can see the tester discount at work here:

You have answered your own question - it is not possible for a product to be in two product groups.

Your best available option is to offer discount on one single battery product when the charger is purchased.

      Hi Bill,

Thanks for your comments, I do seem to have found a workaround - though a little complicated.

I now have 2 different battery groups, each offering the same discount on a tester. this then allows me to offer discounts on battery group A and not B when a set of chargers are purchased, but you can still get the tester discount on all batteries.

I should be able to expand this into lots of little mini groups, though it may end up getting very complicated and lots of groups, but seems to work.

I would like to offer a discount for all orders over £25, and in addition for certain products only I would like to have a 50% discount as a special offer.

In order to have all orders over £25 qualify for the first discount I have created a product group called 'all products', I cannot create a 2nd product group to apply the 50% offer (regardless of order size) for the smaller group however.

Am I going about this the right way or is it just the case this cannot be done ?

        Thanks

        John

          Taking David's work around.

          Remove the All Products group.

Make as many smaller groups as you wish to, ensuring every product is a member of a group.

Create your 50% discount and apply it to the correct group

Create your £25 discount and apply it to every one of your smaller group including the one that has the 50%

Since this is an additional discount, ensure you do not have a tick in the 'only allow one discount' boxes.
