FTP Settings - links on site not working

    Hi All,
I hope you can help me with this (easy) one.

I have tried to upload my test site to an ftp address, but none of the script links are working. I have attached my network settings, and would like to add that within Path to CGI-Bin in the FTP settings I have tried leaving it blank, with just acatlog, ../catalog, ../../catalog and nothing works. Most of these give me an error when testing saying that they are not pointing to the same place.

The file layout within my ftp folder is as follows:-

    |---htdocs
    |+-----index.html (etc)
    |+-----actalog
    |+----A0000.cat
    |+----about.html (etc)
    |+-----cgi-bin
    |+----ab000000.pm
    |+----md000000.pl (Etc)
    |+-----images
    |+----logo.gif (Etc)
    |
    |---logfiles
    |
    |---private

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong, all the pages look fine but as soon as I click something which needs a script I am told

Error: Error opening configuration file ../acatalog/prompt.fil. No such file or directory

The url when I get this script is http://www.the-broch.co.uk/cgi-bin/m...CTION=SHOWFORM

To replicate go to http://www.the-broch.co.uk/index.html and click contact us from the header bar.

Thanks in advance for any assistance

Not sure, but on something to check.
Have you got the correct permissions set on the cgi-bin directory: 755?
Also, do you get any errors when you do a network test?

Thanks for that, but I'm not sure how to check that - I didn't get an error redarding that when I did the test - just that the folders weren't pointing to the same thing
      Thanks in advance!

You can check the permissions using an ftp client. (often it's right click, then look at the properties or CHMOD.

PS - I'd consider removing the background inage on your site - it makes the text very hard to read.

Thanks, I know about the background that was just a test that I forgot to take off!

I only use internet explorer to ftp, and the only permissions it shows are read/write/execute (all of which are fine) but I will contact my ISP to make sure.

          Thanks for all your help
          Thanks in advance!

It would be worthwhile downloading SmartFTP or similar - you can then check yourself.

                Everything Working Now!

Thanks again for all yur help - it is now working.

The permissions on the folder was exactly the problem!

For anyone else who comes across this problem it may be worth noting the following.

My account was hosted on my ISP's window server, and the CGI-Bin permission on that type of account is 700. I have since removed that one and opened a brand new Linux account, which is 755, and everything worked perfectly first time!

Thank god for all the helpful people on this forum or I would have been struggling for ages
                Thanks in advance!
