Test Mode

Hi All

We are testing some tracking code using the Test Mode function in V. 8. The problem we have is that the tracking we need to test is mainly on the the confirmation page after submitting your order.

It seems that in test mode you are pushed to the production mode when you add products to the cart. Does anyone know how to fully test a site all the way through on Test Mode?

You cannot as the cgi scripts are, as you say, transfered to the live site

Can you recommend a method of testing the changes without pushing to live?

I have had the same problem, my test sight does this. Not sure why but i think it is to do with cookies, i cleared all mine and everything is fine now.

A better way to test the site would be to create a new default actinic website upload to a different url and check that the code works correctly then set up a new adwords campaign on a test product.

This way there is no interference from the live site. Once the code works ok then it can be transfered to the live site.

This failing in the test mode is always a pain, get your designer or the company who have implemented the code to upload the site to a test domain and do a thorough test this way. This is the only reliable and successful way i have found - hopefully they should know this.

Otherwise you will end up with a company saying they have implemented the code, telling you it works fine and getting paid before you find out that in fact it fails miserably.

The test mode could really do with being a full test mode.
