Email a friend link causing add to cart???

I can't find any reference to this problem on the forums.

Some time ago I added the email a friend code from the AUG at the bottom of each product entry (bottom of "Standard Layout using CSS" just before the /Form). I modified it slightly so rather than being a box where you enter the email address it's simply a button that opens Outlook with an email title and some body text.

The problem I'm having is that when the button is pressed it opens Outlook as expected but also adds that product to the cart.

It's been quite a while since I added the code for this and I didn't spot this happening when it was first implemented but I may have just missed it.

Can anyone offer any ideas on why this behaviour is happening please?

I cannot see any problems with the email a friend link - it does not add to cart for me.

What is wrong though is that your body content is being pushed below the navigation so that when I go to a page it looks empty. there is also something which apears to be trying to load on the page which is causing the hour glass to show all the time

      Thankyou Malcolm, much appreciated feedback.

I've tested the site on several machines (Mac and PC) with firefox, opera, and explorer and all looked fine. However I'm running explorer 7 most of the time and I managed to replicate what you describe using explorer 6 on the Mac using Parallels. Now to figure out what's causing it??

I can't understand the reason for the hourglass issue. I can't get that to happen. All the images are optimised with Ulead. Do you see the red Comodo logo triangle in the bottom right corner as that uses some JS to get the up-to-date logo from their server.

I think I may have solved the button issue. I moved the javascript for the "email us" button to below the /Form block-if section and it seems to be working as expected for me too.

If anyone else has time to take a quick look at my page could you tell me if you also experience the hourglass issue please?

      Many thanks

      John

I did wonder how you were doing this - i would suggest that this is what is causing the problem. It may be refreshing or the like when a page is scrolled.

I cannot see anything else that would cause it.
