New Products showing twice

I have only recently received V8 and am rebuilding all our sites for the new year. I have been playing around with Marketing > New Product Listing, and it is quite useful. But why does the listing come up twice. Once in a column on the left under Product Sections then in larger boxes under the main body of the home page.

I would like to use one of the options not both, but can't find where to do that. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks.

you are using the layout that places New products in the sidebar and home page, see siteoptions layout tab, new products
