A little Help Please I have lost the plot or its alz's

Oh my god must be getting OLd i THINK !!

used act for 7 years now since v4

Used to the Dreamweaver interface , now i can not get my head around V8 at all

Thought i would do a quick upgrade i a day at that would be it LOL

Test upload of V8 but the upgrade import did not carry any om images or codes to the new v8 from 7 example page below

Now 3 things that i cannot get into my head

1/ why is it that only some of my pages have the required right hand column ?

2/ How the hell do i get to use Dreamweaver to work installed the required but everytime i try to use the v8 interface in dreamweaver all i get is "you must save the file" first message ? how can i save the file if i cannot open it ! i need to put the images i have in the old v7 site ETC on to the right hand col on all the pages in v8

3/ why when i have added the best seller or new items lists to the col's left or right am i not getting the icon pics to appear

Yep ive lost the plot
Or is there anybody out there who fancies a quick fix on the above over the next 3-4 days for a Fee ? 8 things in total i will need sorting

Is probably best to read the getting started Guide, other threads on peoples V8 upgrade experiences and other docs for V8 to get a feel for the task in hand before you actually try to upgrade.

it is certainly not a days work - my own site's upgrades have been WIP for 3 months.

If you are using a standard Actinic template (which it looks like you are) then I have found that the upgrade usually goes well - the more customised the site then the more chance of things going a bit odd!.

As jo says read through the upgrade thread sticky import you r site and I would reaply the theme you were using in V7 as a start - you cannot export a template to DW as you could in V7. You now need to produce a design in DW and pass it into V8.

lastly forget everything you knew about V7 - V8 is completely different.

H'mm , 3 Mths bloody hell , i spend 3 hours a day just on products upload and download with our system we have volatile stock which changes by the hour , if thats the case with V8 think it may be time to look elswhere for a better solution than actinic ? used to do a v7 site in a day without a problem

I have found V8 to be far better in terms of SEO than V7 so in that respect I dont think that there is anything better on the market

As did I and it has been a struggle learning V8 but I can now just about do the same with V8 - The problem is that if you are used to V7 then V8 is like another language.

just gone 8.04 ! a mare locks up in XPP , no longer able to nav via the selection sections in design options , thought ok lets do a freash import of the v7 site oh no that locks as well !! was v 8.04 a bug solver or a bug introducer !! or is this going to be like v5-6 where everyone acts as a beta tester ?

Did you try the above? If so, did it still lock up, or is it working? If it has locked up, then please could you tell us your PC specification, IE how much memory (RAM) do you have?

Yes its enough spec i think LOL . We are a hardware wholesaler as you can see from the site so never lack in the offices for performance ( well not on the PC's themselve's !! )

who out there would like to quote for sorting this site out for us ? want the test load to have a similar feel to the old V7 with the suppliers images ETC and both side bars ETC and a few tweaks nothing major IE best seller lists in side bar with images and new items ETC . We are now just too busy to have the time to learn V8 , just wish the Dreamweaver interface worked
