    Error 403 - Google probs

Hello everyone. I have a specific and short question but I've followed it with some general thoughts / background/ info about my situation. (I am a beginner!)

I tried to tell Google where to find my sitemap but it returns a error 403 (forbidden) when I tell it to look for it in http://www.hohobird.com/acatalog/ (which is where I'm pretty confident it is).

It seemed OK when I told it about http://www.hohobird.com/

Any thoughts suitable for a basic user?

    Background info.
    * I'm new to Actinic (v8) but happy with the progress I'm making.
    * I have recently (3 mths?) moved to a new hosting (fasthosts) and moved www.hohobird.com to them.
    * I'm not expecting miracles with Google (I've spent 3 hours reading previous posts.....). My stuff is pretty unique and uncompetative.
    * I'm using Actinic like I use Excell or Powerpoint.....ie I'm trying to get it to do what I want by staying within the box. I'm unwilling (certainly unsafe!) to try tinkering with html. I'm generally happy with the flexibility it is offering me so far.
    * My site is far from finished but thought I'd try and get Google started

    Many thanks!

Also your Site Map is a distinct page - http://www.hohobird.com/acatalog/sitemap.html

Your store's Catalog page is http://www.hohobird.com/acatalog/shop.html - not the usual index.html. If you only give a path name without naming the file you want, e.g. http://www.hohobird.com/acatalog/ then web servers look for index.html or index.htm and return that if they find it. You don't have an index.html there and the server doesn't know or care that shop.html is your Catalog page; thus it return a page not found error.

The fix is to select your catalog root in the Content tree (bundle of money icon), select the Page Settings tab and change the Base Page Name to index.html. Only do this if your site is relatively new and you don't have search engines or other external links pointing to http://www.hohobird.com/acatalog/shop.html

Thanks Jo. I've done that and all seems to have gone OK. Many thanks for your help.
