Live help software - Compatable with V8

Hello everyone I hope you are all enjoying your Christmas.

I would like to add a live support option for my site so customers can just click it and we can chat to discuss their issues.

I have tried a couple of programs but they were full of bugs and wanted to ask the forum members about their experiences and if they could recommend any software. Preferably open source but I am will to pay for a decent program.

Ive taken a look around and some of the prices for the software are very expensive. I can appriciate the developers deserve payment for their hard work but there is no way I can justify a monthly subscription.

I have found one that is in my price range - live help messenger. The only problem is there isnt a free trial so I can't test to see if it works. I dont fancy paying the money to a U.S. company then it not working.

I also tried crafty syntax but after installation when it tries to start a conversation it gives 'internal server error'. The forum is dead from what I can see so if it doesn't work there is no help.

If anyone knows of an open source live chat that is stable then I can sort this problem out and get back to some real work.

to the best of my knowledge the following are all opensource

'internal server error'.

this normally is due to incorrect permissions on the scripts ie 644 where they should be 755, I'd read the install instructions again
