    Cookies...

Hi, Having spent hours serching these pages I am still having problems with cookies - stopping access to the site features, but just on this PC (which is the one I use to create the site) - the other pc on the same network loads the site fine. Is there a solution to this? The only difference in software between the two pc's is that the one working fine uses IE6 and this one(the site master one) uses IE7 - I dont know whether thats causung the difference!?!? All firewall software is the same and on the same default settings. Please can someone help?

Try using another browser on the suspect system (e.g. Firefox, Opera) and see what happens.

Apologies - to be more specific its the shopping cart, adding products to it, viewing it etc. I am still able to see the products in the site.

IMHO it dosen't sound like a cookie problem.....maybe a browser problem. In IE7 have a go at setting your security level to default:

Tools/Internet Options/Security Tab/Reset All Zones to Default Level.....see if that works?

Unfortunatley its not that - reset security settings as you suggested - still get this error message:

This shopping application requires permission to use cookies on your machine, but this has been denied.

This can be for several different reasons, but they are all under your control:

              - you may have disallowed cookies altogether in your browser

              - you may have the privacy policy in your browser or internet security software/firewall set to a level that stops cookies from being used by this shopping site

Cookies in this shopping application are used to keep track of your cart contents, remember names and addresses when you ask for them to be remembered and, when relevant, keep you logged on.

Cookies are not used in any way that abuses your privacy or security.

Please change your settings to allow cookies either in your browser or firewall. If you choose not to, I'm afraid that we cannot complete your request.

                Maybe have a go at:

                Tools/Internet Options/Browser History/Delete/Cookies ?

I'd also check your virus software to see if they're being stopped from there

If it's okay in firefox it seems to me that it's IE7 that's restricting the cookie deployment. It would be worth checking options in IE7 that could be stopping the cookie

Just had alook at your site to see if it did the same as I'm using IE7 but you've suspended your catalog at the moment.

Thanks Jo, does this mean that there is a fix? If so what is it?

                        I have enabled ordering again.

That thread seemed to be about the actinic cookie 'expiring'. There are a few things you could check to try and identify the problem:

                            1. Is the server time correct?

                            2. Is the clock set to the same time, date and timezone on both PCs?

                            3. Change the cookie expiry time in actinic to 24 hours and see if that makes a difference.

Please report back as it will help others with the same problem in the future.
