Problem Connecting to My Own Website

    Hello,

I went through an entire network setup wizard and now have the following information registered with the Actinic Shopping Cart program:

    Catalog URL:
    http://www.rolandsupplies.com/cart/acatalog/

    CGI-BIN URL:
    http://www.rolandsupplies.com/cgi-bin/

    Codebase:
    ./

    Path to CGI-BIN
    /public_html/cgi-bin

    CGI Script ID Number: 11111
    Extension: .pl

My problem is that I cannot upload the shopping cart via FTP to the server. I get the following error message:

    "Error sending version negotiation request"

I believe I have everything in the program correct, can you offer any advice on this error? I do not understand why I cannot upload via FTP. Thank you!

Try a script ID of just 1 ... see how that fares.. think you are limited to 2 digits only

What are you complete network settings?

(*** out your password and u/n)

Is this your first upload? If so change script id to 1

        Thanks for the replies,

I just changed the script ID to 1 and it gave me the same error message after I go to update website.

Where would I find the complete network settings? Other than what I posted I don't know what you mean excluding the password and username.

And yes this is my first time trying to upload the shopping cart and I'm on the trial version.

          Open actinic

          Then do the following

          > Web
          >> Network Setup
          >>> Export

Open up the text file and paste the info here *** out your password and username to your ftp space for security reasons.

You can export the network settings to a text file. Web|Network Setup - Export.

i had a similar error before, however my situation is little difference than your.

i was on v7 with live production site, then download v8 on a separate machine for testing, stupidly uploaded the v8 setting to the v7 live site.

completely destroyed the structure of cgi-bin, the site etc. unable to do anything at all.

the support told me to increase the number of script by 1 etc, still no joy. out of desperation to get the site back, i did the following:

[please be advised that it might not work for you, and could result further error]

i login by raw FTP connection, clear down the site files, cgi-bin etc, then upload the site again - it then all working.

only the last resouce!! i hope this helps!

Can you also add your hosting company and the package you are on.

Yeah that would have to be the last resort. I keep the general website on there however so I don't think that will be possible. I don't even think anything has been uploaded as it can't get a connection to anything. Thanks though.

I use Siteground with the standard Ecommerce package and I have been talking with them as well, but no help yet.

Did the Setup Wizard go smoothly for everyone else during this process?

I did just look under Housekeeping -> Security and see that there is a lot of encryption and a username and password from the Actinic Trial Server Registration. Would this have something to do with connecting to my own server?

Fixed it! I browsed around on some other threads and found that you have to Convert out of Host Mode in Network settings. Works like a charm!

This bit cannot be right surely, you do not have acatalog within your cgi-bin, it often sits at same level and if you did have it within, you certainly wouldn't navigate to it like that as you are already in the cgi-bin.

Try using the network wizard, see if that can do it for you.
