Did the wizard fail too? Perhaps your quickest method is to contact the guy who says he has it working and ask for a complete copy of his working settings. They could then be put in the forum to help others in the future.

The Wizard keeps failing at the Perl Section.

Spoke to Siteground and got this respons from them. Would love some assisstance on this, and Web Site Design if really new to me.

''The perl executable is located at:

        /usr/local/bin/perl

you can run both .pl and .cgi extensions without a problem, but to do so, you should place a .htaccess file in the folder, where you will install the script and place the following line in it:

        Options +EcecCGI ''

i assume you've changed network settings to reflect the correct path

you should place a .htaccess file in the folder, where you will install the script and place the following line in it:

          Options +EcecCGI ''
create a file in notepad put the line given by your host in it, save file as .htaccess thats htaccess prefixed with a dot with no extension and upload it to the cgi-bin

Probably mandatory you do it if they as your host say so to be honest. Your alternative option is to tell them to stick it and choose a host that works straight away with no messing.

                  Thanks for the info Jo.

                  Have done that now.

But still get this error when trying the test.

The test script failed to execute on the web server. The error could be caused by several things. Check the path to the Perl shell, the CGI script extension, the path to CGI-BIN, and the CGI-BIN URL. This error could also occur if your web site is out of disk space or your web server is not configured to accept POSTs to CGI scripts.

                      Appreciate peoples assistance on this.

Have gone back to Host and their response was.

Please note that the script itself must be located in your cgi-bin folder which is the system folders for scripts like the one you are willing to use but the html or php page that is actually accessing them must not be located in the cgi-bin folder because it will be treated by our server as a script therefore mis processed.

Please kindly place the page that is going to access your script outside the cgi-bin folder and provide us with the folder it resides in and we shall happily further assist you.

Does anyone else have these issues with Siteground?..or is it just me missing something?

move hosts - you should not be having these problems getting actinic working.

Ok..So I have now moved to WebFusion.

                          Quick question

Do I need to create Directories like CGI-BIN? Just , that the folder structure appears to be completly empty.

                          Thanks in advance

Assuming that you have bought the Linux packagewhich is the one that works best with actinic then you dont need to change anything You can get the network settings from the forum or my website. If not then pm me and I will email a settings file for you to import.
