Problems working with Sites in Program Files in in Vista

I'm having great difficulties working with the Sites folder in Windows Vista. As the Sites folder is stored in Actinic's Program Files folder Vista takes a distinct dislike to it.

Vista has lots of security built into it to prevent unauthorised use of applications and saving files in protected folders. One of these protected folders is the Program Files folder and its subfolders. So every time I save a file into this folder, in this case my pictures it asks for permission to do it.

I'm doing a lot of product image folder rearranging at the moment and Windows Explorer has crashed frequently whilst doing this in the Sites folder causing Vista to come to a grinding halt.

Is it possible to setup the Sites folder to another permanent location such as a server share?

    James,

    Are you on v8.0.4?

We don't fully support Vista in v8.0.4, it will run but it's necessary to turn off User Account Control (UAC). UAC can be turned off from the Control Panel | User Accounts.

Yes, I am using 8.0.4. This is the first edition of Catalog I've managed to get to work with Vista.

Why aren't you supporting Vista? Its been beta tested for over a year now so Actinic have ample opportunity to beta test Actinic with beta and RC versions of Vista to iron out the bugs before its official release. Its now officially released so will you support it soon?

I'll give it a go at switching off UAC to see if that works - your programmers shouldn't consider this as a solution though as most corporate users won't want to switch UAC off on their user's PCs due to its benefits.

          James,

That is not a solution, more of a workaround to get v8.0.4 to work with Vista. The next release should completely support Vista.

          Kind regards,

Hooray. By release do you mean point release or version release? Got any idea of timescales?

That would be a point release, but as you should be aware, I do not have a date .
