Upgrading from version 6 to Version 8

Has anyone upgraded from Version 6 Business to Version 8 Business recently?

I am currently waiting to see what the upgrade price for the new update version is from the Version 6 business, and while I'm waiting, hope to hear what experience anyone had dealing with the change.

I have a customized website on a business version 6 platform: www.audiobasics.com, and thinking about upgrading to Version 8. Is there any difficulties or concerns I should be aware of?

Any advise you can offer before I make this change?

    Best Regards,

    Benjamin

    Hi Benjamin,

It's a long hard road to be honest. I'm upgrading a v7 business site and it has taken 2 months already... OK I'm only able to dedicate an hour or two a day. It's a case of relearning as a totally new system is used. I'm following advice given earlier and starting with a complete new design rather than importing the old one.

For any upgrade from a previous version with a customized site, it will not be a one click and done job, but you can install the v8 on the same machine as you v6, let it take a copy of your v6 and upgrade that for you with no interuption to your v6 site.

You can then play with it, amend etc etc under the v8 30 day trial.

Suggest you read many a post about people ideas on best way, which some say new design from scratch and others work through converting after it upgrades, but you can play without having to buy so can see how it will pan out in the short term - you might be supprised at how well it goes - never know

        Upgrading Actinic v6 to v8

Thank you for your response! I was in Vegas at the time you sent the reply, sorry it took awhile to thank you. I do have a customized site, and the unknown does concern me greatly!

I have achieved a comfort zone using the site, but like all things, we must keep up with the times. Much of my site is actually the inputting of the content, which is what concerns me most, because if I have to manually re-input my data, it would unfortunately make it a monumental task.

The re-design would not concern me as much if I were able to retain the individual products I have inputted thus far.

Is there a guideline one could use to instruct step by step what must be done to proceed with the upgrade?

Could the re-design be something I could do myself? if so what skillset do I need?, or do I need the developer software?

        Thank you in advance!

        Regards,

        Benjamin
