Previously myself and my colleague worked with actinic v7 at the same time. I worked on the design portion of the site whilst he worked on inputing products. Once I was done with the design it was a simple case of dragging the old v7 template html files over to his computer.

Now, my question is... Is there anyway that the two of us can work at the same time on Actinic v8. Due to the new design system with v8 i have not been able to find a way. Is it possible or have i missed somthing blatently obvious.

    Thanks for your time

Yes still possible - the route depends on the flavour of Actinic you have. If you have the multisite or designer versions you can deploy partial snapshots (the layouts you need) and import to the product machine - these are then available in the library as a layout selector.

If you don't have that facility you can simply create a new layout in the product machine then copy and paste the layouts from the design machine.

It is pretty much the same as v7 except the inner layouts are all inside Actinic unlike the old Act_Template structure of v7

Yea im using a multisite version

Ive noticed the "Deploy Partial Site Design" snapshot method but have been put off trying it due to the following reason:

The details say that partial site design includes the following:
1)All external files referenced in the site's design.
      2) All files defined in the database 'FileList' and 'Additional Files' tables.
      3) The site and shipping database files (ActinicCatalog.mdb and SimpleShipping.mdb)
      4) The site registry entries.

But if it included the ActinicCatalog.mdb file this would overwrite the products on the other computer wouldnt it?

Is the partial site snapshot ideal for the job?

It should work fine - if you try the proceedure you will see a 1001+ options to tick and include in the deployment - simply untick those you do not require so you can hone it down to just a single layout if so desired
