Product Import

Ive recently used a csv file to import and update my products and it works perfectly despite one problem. Ive added several variables to store information on each product, eg height width length etc. Ive added this data to my csv file with column headers the same as the variable name ready to be imported.

The import does not seem to import my custom variables though. Everything else works fine. Is it possible to have variable data imported along with the rest of my product data or will i have to go back to entering this manually again?

This should work as you expect.

Try closing Actinic then Restarting. Sometimes newly created Variables aren't picked up until a restart.

Do you see your own Variables in the Import Mapping list in the "to Actinic Field" column? If not, make sure that you have "Product" checked in their Place of Setting.

Also, are you doing a Flat File or Hierarchical Import?

Ive used a flat file csv as im not quite sure how to do the other type. Also it was more convenient as that is how that data came from my client.

The variable names are not in the "to actinic field" list and my variables are ticked as being for products. Ive included some screenshots if they help...

As far as im aware ive done everything you suggested but still having trouble, any more ideas?

I think you'll need a Hierarchical import to do this.

See Converting Flat Files To Hierarchical Files in the Actinic Help which describes a way to convert a flat file to hierarchical. This program may only come with V8.0.4.
