Fatal errror when referring to a section

    Hi

Though we got V8 last autumn had to put the upgrade on hold till now. So today I upgraded to V8 (as on the CD sent to us).

Started Actinic to do the post-upgrade actions and then put it into Test Mode and started the upload. As soon as it got to one innocuous product section (Novelties) it crashed "Encountered a problem".

I then went to the Actinic upgrade area and downloaded the latest V8 patches, this was the file v804_GMVA_UK_Patch.EXE. I ran this patch file, all ok.

Went into Actinic, same crash at the same point of the upload.

Tried just selecting the product section. Same crash. The details are

    AppName: catalog.exe AppVer: 8.0.4.0 ModName: mfc71.dll
    ModVer: 7.10.3077.0 Offset: 0008c71e

I've tried compacting the database, no difference.

Trying various products and sections the crash occurs at some of them, though by no means all.

Obviously I've re-enable ordering on the V7 site whilst I get this issue sorted.

Our site is really trivial at the moment compared to some.

I've searched the Forum but not currently found anything.

I'm very much an Actinic tyro, help really would be appreciated.

    Hi Tony,

This sounds like it needs more investigation. I suggest raising a support query here so that we can get the snapshot to test out.

      Now it could get tricky...

As our V7 shop was on-line and new orders had come in I decided to complete processing of all the outstanding orders and take a snapshot on the V7 shop.

I then ran up V8 and imported this snapshot.

After the import I tried to browse the V8 catalogue, it crashed in the same way with the same error details.

I then decided to take a snaphot of the V8 system for bug report submission. Unfortunately a moment or two after starting to create the snapshot it crashed. Same error details.

What can I do now to progress this? Obviously I'll be keeping the V7 shop on-line until this gets resolved.

      Cheers

        Hi,

I suggest that you raise a support query as per my last post so we can get your v7 snapshot and try to upgrade it here. We can then see if we get the same crashing problem and try to find out what is causing it.

Thanks Tracey, I've now raised a query so it can be followed up.
