    Stat counter code installation

    Hi,
    I would like to instal a stat counter, but I have no idea where to install the code, can anyone help? ( in easy to understand, no computer speak, terms )

    Hi Hugh,

    it depends on the actual counter and the code required. Most likely it will need to go into the <head> .... <head> part of the outer layout.

    Often your web host will provide very detailed web stats including access to the raw data on searches, browsers used etc that can be analyzed offline if needed

      If it contains any java script then place it at the bottom of the page. As jont says each counter is different but most of them provide a basic guide to instalation.

        Anyone able to explain this procedure to a novice without being rude?

        I had tried placing java script at bottom of page and the interactive preview in the design tab stops working on any pages that have the java script stat counter added so I guess I'm not doing something right.

          As jont says each counter is different but most of them provide a basic guide to instalation.
          You will need to look at the instructions given by the counter to see how it is designed to work - most are different so there is no generic answer
