    Multiple display for a product

    The site I'm trying to set up has several products that are repeated in different sections. The price of those products will vary depending on which section it's in. However, the price variation will be based on the initial product + x%. ??

    Example

    I'm selling office furniture which come in different styles and wood finishes.
    An mdf desk costs £30;
    A pine desk costs an extra 15%;
    A mahogany one costs an extra 30% of the chipboard version.

    I don't want to have a dropdown / attribute list for the desk as I want to have one section for the mdf furniture, another for pine and another for mahogany etc... There are various furniture pieces with the same price difference for the woods. Hope that makes sense!!!

    How can I copy the mdf product to the pine product and automatically adjust the price by 15%? Is this possible? I hope so as I've got loads of products and it'll take an age to enter them all.

    I would think you would want to bite the bullet and create a product for each. Surely you will be using a totally different image and a totally differnt description to sell a Mahogany desk and an mdf desk?

    Hard work does not really hurt (in spite of what you might have heard) and the reward is in a better website.

      I am with Bill on this. Whilst I sympathise with the predicament it would be a better website for the manual intervention in changing text etc for SEO.

      I may be possible to adjust the duplicate price dynamically in the database as v8 has better duplicate tracking options compared to v7 but I have never attempted this.

        I don't want to be the first one to prove that wrong!!!!!

        How's about Plan B?

        I have all the prices in an excel spreadsheet. Is there anyway that I can import the file into actinic or would it still be easier to key it all in?

          I don't think it's possible for a duplicate to have a different price to the original - it's not one of the selectable options in the Duplicates Field Configuration. I think you will have to create more originals.
