All at sea with shipping!!

Hi all

I am sure this has been raised before but I just wanted to check if any had a workaround or whether there was an anticipated future fix.

The problem is that we need to use weight based shipping as we sell physical goods and have some downloads. We deliver to the UK mainland and Ireland.

We offer free delivery over £60 in the UK. We cannot do that with Ireland - or we would be bankrupt!

There is no way to turn this on for the UK - and off for Ireland.

It can be done by using Value Based Shipping and setting all prices above £60in the UK zone to 0 and then putting a charge for this price range in the Ireland zone. However, I really need to use weight based shipping.

Unfortunately, there is no correlation between value and weight for the goods we sell - so there seems to be no workaround this way.

Any fixes, suggestions gratefully received.

This is a popular request on the wish list. I will add in another vote on your behalf. Unfortunately this is not possible and there is no workaround to be able to use multiple types of shipping on the store at the moment.

We were promised, in a thread somewhere on here, that some great new changes to the shipping in V8 would be forth comming. Now this was back in October / November and we had all the problems that went with V8.03 & and the fixes where more important than wishes which i am glad for but i hope this is not going to be another 12-18 months before we see some improvement with V9.

This, IMHO, is the next major thing that needs sorting, things like - excluding a product from a particular shipping method, shipping based on biggest item not total of items (wishing since V5) and of course Dan's wish which as you pointed out is a re-occurance

Both the scenarios mentioned by you are as high on the wish list as the ones Dan mentioned. You should know that I cannot comment on time scales but it will not take as long as you have mentioned.

Thanks Bruce, so we are looking at maybe an update to V8 rather than a full blown change in V9 then?
