    Using with AOL account

Has anyone any experience of using V8 with an AOL client? Have just received a customer order for Catalog V8 and have just realised they are an AOL broadband user.

Bit worried about FTP'ing etc. through an AOL account, or any other nasties that I don't know about, until I try to install the software and a snapshot.

    Thanks for any info.

I also have an AOL connection at home and have no issues uploading Actinic test sites and retreiving orders etc.

The only issues I have are with sending emails via the domain name using AOL - I use a standalone email server (a free one off t'internet) to open on a specific port (alas can't remember off hand - Google should throw this out) with the AOL account name as the user.

AOL is not ideal but it can be used used (clunkily) ... as they are going to be using a commercial site to sell products / services they would be as well signing up with another host (either alongside AOL or binning AOL entirely) for the minimal amounts they charge nowadays

Thanks -- that's a relief -- I will see whether they have another phone line available to run a proper broadband connection for Actinic Catalog.

Outgoing mails -- I thoroughly recommend authsmtp to handle all outbound mails, the tech support is first class, the service is rock solid and they solved all outbound mail delays at a stroke. That should also be a good workaround for sending domain mail through BT or an AOL broadband account using e.g. Outlook Express.

      Many thanks.
