Changing Component Layout or not showing them at all on Product page

Hi,

I am building a site in v8 which effectively sells a food hamper. The hamper is made up of components, however there are too many to list against each product as they go on and on down the page and the associated product descriptions are quite long and wrap also -and I would prefer not to have to retype 100's of alternative descriptions. What I would prefer to do is a basic list within the description but on adding to cart the the full list of components is passed so that the customer can at checkout remove items they don't want..ie customise their hamper.

I'm no expert on HTML so if there are suggestions please be gentle with me!

Don't know if you could do something like

Tinned meat selection 1 ...detail page link
..... full list on detail page
Tinned meat selection 2 ...detail page link
......full list on detail page

and have people choose which selection to include?
