'New Product' list - variables to amend?

Can anyone help with a problem I'm having with formatting the 'new products' list please?

I'm still at the messing-around test-site stage and therefore only have 4 items in the database. Bit despite all four of them being tagged as 'New Product', only two of them are showing up in the list...

Ideally, I was hoping somebody could tell me where to find variables that control:

1) How many products are shown in the list
2) The order that the products are listed in - ideally I'd like this to be controlled by a user-defined variable if at all possible.

Have a look in the marketing drop down menu, from memory im sure it is controlled within there.

I've changed the update frequency from 'every day' to 'every upload' and it's refreshing the list on demand now.
