    Actinic Site Map

In the site map on my V8 site http://www.winesandhampers.co.uk it only shows product category pages, not the extended info or other pages. How can I get the site map to include all pages (specifically the extended info pages)?

Is page 49 of the advanced user guide any use to you?

One of the problems with the ext info - which is why I dont use them.

Im assuming that you are using them in the single product per page role. If you are using them as popups then you dont want them indexed and all your info should be in the product page.

I have it set up so that the 'product/category' page looks like a neat grid of thumbnails and the main product page (extended info) opens in the same window. If there is a better way to achieve the same effect, I'd love to know.

There are several other ways to achieve the same effect. As to what is best then that is for you to decide.

I use the old V7 method which has been improved on recently by Duncan - a search will show the thread. I use my own adaptation which shows each product on the sitemap but NOT the extinfo as I dont want them indexed.

A recent site still under construction is http://www.sandersondixon.co.uk/acatalog/sitemap.html each product is contained in its own section and a custom duplicate and product layout is created to only show what is required on each page.

Its because I use them as popups and I dont want people landing on them. I know its an age old discussion but thats they way I like it.

I'd also agree personally, landing on a popup is a pain in the ass with no navigation, most of my search results landing on a popup page are quickly dealt with by using the back button and moving onto another listing.

I think there is confusion spreading in the V8 world about the use of the ext info as a single product page - IMO it is not a very good option. Duncans mods to the old V7 method are the best way to generate a single product per page as it allows other things to function correctly eg sitemap.

It seems to be a fashionable in-thing to do at the moment. I hate the idea also, mainly cos it goes against creating content rich pages and minimising clicks to get what they want.

I suspect its pants for SEO but I dont use it so I dont know for certain - it just looks odd.
