    i guess u r using v7.

i have no simple way to find out which fragments are over limit in actinic. this is exact same problem i encountered before. i suggest use INCLUDE (external file) for all long fragments whether they are over limit or not.

if you stick to find out, export catalog to .csv, then you can do it easily in excel.

        Pete / Keith

What have you tried so far to alleviate the problem, we won't be throwing ideas at you that you've already tried then?

Try taking a word out of it and see what happens.

there isnt really a lot of wording in the descriptions only a few lines plus a picture. If this is the area you are talking about

It sounds like there are more than 255 characters in it and it doesn't like it. It was a stab in the dark, to try reducing the size of whatever is in it, to see if that cured anything. Pure stab in the dark, however i know that 255 is a limit in some fields on a computer, don't ask me why, where or when as it's a vague memory and has something to do with the way PC's work (i think).

If its 10 over then try taking 3 or 4 words out to be sure.

                I'd try this first

                then

hide all your fragments and then add them back in one at a time?

Sorry to appear really thick Lee but where am i supposed to be looking for these words in an attempt to reduce them

What i am trying to say is i dont understand fragments. The only thing i understand i have 10 brochure pages in the catalog and indside each of these i created new fragments each as a few written lines and a small image.

Is this the area you are talking about ???

                  Thanks Keith

Text in your fragments are made up of characters or letters and numbers as you may know them. It appears to dislike the amount of characters that you have in one or more of them, so try reducing the amount of words in one of them and see if it does anything. If something has 266 characters in it and i remove the word "about" from it, it will then have 260 characters etc.

Jo's option sounds a good one too.

Or import your last working snapshot.

The fragment text is stored as Memo in the database so I doubt that it will be the character size of the fragment - more likely something else.

I'd do as Malcolm says - backup first then do a restore of an earlier snapshot as see if it prevails.

From previous posts he has been into the database, you might have just hit the nail on the head.
